Pilvax was founded in the late summer of 2004 and our
first issue was published in February of 2005. It was
printed and assembled by hand and had a print run of 250
copies, which were sold at poetry readings around Budapest
and at Red Bus Books, one of the city's used English book
shops.
From the beginning our approach has been to concentrate
on the highest quality literature - in original English or
in translation - and to present it in an attractive print
format.
As a result, we have gradually expanded our scope
to include some of Central Europe's most prominent literary
voices. We have also expanded our distribution and are now
available for purchase in several European cities and in
the US.
Since 2006, Pilvax has been affiliated with the Papai Nyari
Szinhazert foundation, a non-profit arts organization that
allows us to accept tax-deductible donations and to apply
for grants and other funding.
